Adam Sandler, Gabourey Sidibe and More Invited to Join Academy

A diverse group of artists and executives have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, with Adam Sandler, Ryan Reynolds, James Gandolfini, U2's Bono and The Edge, Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique and more among the honored asked to join the just-under 6,000 established members.

"The work of these individuals has been appreciated by moviegoers all around the world," says Academy President Tom Sherak of the 135 people invited to join. "The Academy is proud to invite each and every one of them."

Select artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures are eligible.
