Former President Jimmy Carter on Kennedy: ‘A Passionate Voice’

Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter are remembering Senator Edward M. Kennedy in the wake of his passing, calling him "a passionate voice."

"Rosalynn and I extend our condolences to the Kennedy family," says Carter in a statement. "Senator Kennedy was a passionate voice for the citizens of Massachusetts and an unwavering advocate for the millions of less fortunate in our country. The courage and dignity he exhibited in his fight with cancer was surpassed only by his lifelong commitment and service to his country."

The youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy died Tuesday at his Massachusetts home after a battle with brain cancer. He was 77.
