Palins on Daughter’s Engagement: Bristol is an Adult

After news broke Wednesday that Bristol Palin is engaged to Levi Johnston, the previously estranged father of her child, the Palins released a statement about their daughter's engagement.

The Palins told NBC News, "Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives."

Bristol and Levi had been engaged in a custody battle over their young son Tripp prior to their reunion.
