Why Police Re-opened the Al Gore Case Involving Alleged ‘Unwanted Sexual Touching’

Police Chief Michael Reese is explaining why the Poland, Oregon Police Bureau decided to reopen a case involving Al Gore, in which a woman accused the former vice president of repeatedly touching her in a sexual manner.

"In reviewing this case, we have determined there were procedural issues with the 2009 investigation that merit re-opening the case. There should have been command level review at the time on the specifics of this case and decisions on whether the investigation should go forward," Reese says.

Last week, police said that Gore's accuser, a licensed massage therapist, spoke with their Detective Division in January 2009 about an incident that she says occurred between she and Gore at a hotel in October 2006.
